Pat Gwinn
Broadcaster • Producer • Entertainer • Storyteller
For decades, Pat Gwinn has shared his passion for radio and Carolina Beach Music with listeners across the Carolinas and around the world. Now he brings that same energy, experience and love for great music to 101 FM The Beach.
A Life in Radio & Music
From a nine-year-old dreamer to a life behind the microphone.
Pat's fascination with broadcasting started when he was nine, pretending to deliver the news like Walter Cronkite. That childhood curiosity became a career built one broadcast at a time.
At WBCU, mentors Bill Stribling and Jack Roper taught him the discipline behind the on-air ease. Guidance from H.A. Thompson of WBT Charlotte helped shape the path that followed: board operator, morning host, programming and operations manager, and eventually station owner.
Carolina Beach Music
The soundtrack has always been part of Pat's story.
Pat's work grew beyond local radio into syndicated programming, television appearances and a long partnership with Carolina Beach Music. His career has included collaborations with Billy Scott and TJ Lubinsky, service with the Carolina Beach Music Awards, and years of introducing listeners to the artists and songs that define the genre.
His programming has reached listeners in 186 countries, while his online work has drawn more than five million views worldwide.
Honors & Awards
A career recognized by two Halls of Fame.
South Carolina Entertainment & Music Hall of Fame
Recognizing Pat's decades of broadcasting, music advocacy and contribution to South Carolina's entertainment legacy.
Carolina Beach Music Academy Hall of Fame
Honoring a longtime ambassador who has championed the music, artists and culture of the Carolina coast.

Beyond the Mic
Music. Friends. Fun. Always.
Pat's work has always been about more than the next record. Through community events, live appearances, television, syndicated radio and ongoing music projects, he continues to connect people with the stories and personalities behind Carolina Beach Music.
At 101 FM The Beach, that experience becomes part of the station's everyday sound — familiar music, coastal stories and the good-time spirit that makes the Carolina coast feel like home.
